Remembering 9/11
Friday, September 11, 2009
I can't believe it's been 8 years since the attacks of 9/11/01. We honor those who were taken from us on that day as well as all of those who have paid the ultimate price since.
It is my hope that we can all remember the unity seen in this country in the weeks following the 9/11 attacks. We watched the partisan bickering subside in this country for awhile. Even the politicians put aside party differences and united for awhile in our time of shock and mourning.
Regardless of personal political beliefs we became unified in the common love of our country and families. That is the message of remembering 9/11. We saw that our greatest strength comes to us when we stand together. We are strongest when we stand as the United States of America. Acting like the divided states of the parties have become our greatest weakness. George Washington warned about the danger the party system poses to our country. Rather than follow the politics of right and left we must look at issues through the prism of right and wrong.
Whether you agree with the wars or not doesn't matter today. Today is about the heroes of United 93. The heroes of NYC who ran to the Twin Towers in an attempt to save lives. To those at the Pentagon who dealt with that attack. Never forget how you felt on that day. Never forget how you felt in the days, weeks, months, and years since that day. And never forget that we are the UNITED STATES of AMERICA.
God bless those lost on 9/11 as well as all who have been lost since, God bless the families of those lost, and may God continue to bless The United States of America.
